Luxury Eiderdown duvets & bedding for over 500 years

Enjoy the ultimate luxury for your sleeping comfort with the Skarð Eiderdown duvet and bedding, and support this eco-sustainable production process. At Royal Eiderdown, we pride ourselves with being fully committed in maintaining eco-sustainability.

Our Eiderdown goes through a vigorous cleaning process and quality control, whereby a government appointed assessor oversees the cleaning process and assesses all Eiderdown that is used. Each duvet is given the Icelandic Government Seal of Quality and a serial number by the same assessor that follows the down from nest to duvet. Unmatched quality and a rich heritage make our Eiderdown duvets simply the best in the world!

The very first documented exchange of the Skarð Eiderdown took place in 1455, when Ólöf the Rich and her husband Björn of Iceland sailed to Denmark and presented the King of Denmark, Christian I, with Skarð Eiderdown duvets. The Danish royal family only wanted Eiderdown duvets from Iceland, due to its incredible insulation properties and scarcity of the product. The tradition of handpicking and cleaning the Eiderdown has been passed down generations for over 500 years. Today, Hilmar Kristinsson, a direct descendent of Ólöf the Rich and 28th generation Eiderdown manufacturer, continues the heritage in perfecting this eco-friendly and eco-sustainable production process.
